The Young People’s Panel at New Art Exchange is proud to present Still, a documentary photography exhibition curated by young people for young people and devoted to moments captured through young people’s photographic lenses.

Still opened to the public at the New Art Exchange on Friday 8 March and presents a diverse collection of documentary photography from young people aged 14–25 responding to different styles of photography in an individual way.
The exhibition is based upon the theme of documentary photography and gives young photographers the chance to explore the world around them and reflect on significant issues, while giving young curators a unique perspective of the exhibition.  Young People’s Panel-member Nayo Hunt said:

Projects like this are very important for us as young people as we are able to develop real-life skills that will help us to make valuable contributions in employment in the near future. It is also a chance to get a sense of what it would be like to work for an art institution such as New Art Exchange

We have taken responsibility for all the decisions from start to finish covering areas like marketing and promotion, curating, writing contracts and liaising with project partners. Finally, we have acquired skills in teamwork, leadership, communications and many others. The exhibition is the tangible result this work and we are very proud of it. I would encourage other young people to get involved in something like the Young People Panel and take advantage of such a opportunity of developing professionally and personally.

The photographs exhibited were selected by the New Art Exchange Young People’s Panel, a group of young creatives passionate about contemporary arts practices.

Stillis organized in partnership with Nottingham Trent University (main sponsor, with the Photography department offering print workshops to all exhibitors and printing for the show) Djanogly Art Academy, Central College Nottingham and New College Nottingham.
