Patrick Curry is offering for private sale a large ceramic tile (illustrated by the great Australian artist Arthur Boyd (1920–99)). Boyd represented Australia at the 1958 and 1988 Venice Biennales. He lived in London from 1960, returning to Australia in 1971, later becoming a Companion of the Order of Australia. Boyd was the subject of an LWT ‘Southbank Show’ in 1986.
Entitled 'Bridegroom Drinking at a Pool', the tile that is offered for sale is part of a series around the same theme as the oil painting recently acquired by the Tate Gallery (Bride Drinking from a Creek, 1960). Patrick Curry’s mother purchased it from Bonython Galleries, Paddington, New South Wales, in about 1965. (He has the original receipt.) It is 56 x 52 cm and weighs 12 kilos. Offers are invited – please contact Mr Curry direct
