Stubbs' Kangaroo hops around Britain

This month, Stubbs’ The Kongouro from New Holland embarks on its own 12-month voyage of discovery – touring to four museums – The Horniman Museum and Gardens, The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Whitby, The Grant Museum of Zoology and the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow – as part of the HLF-funded Traveller’s Tails project. Through a programme of activities at the National Maritime Museum, partner museums, and online Travellers Tails invites the public to find out more about Cook’s voyages, new encounters and discoveries made with others aboard the ships and how Cook shared his stories and discoveries back home.

Members of the public can share their own stories of exploration and discovery, from the first time they saw unusual animals, to their epic adventures in different countries, journeys, reactions to new landscapes and animals and how tales of adventure are told to others. The project will investigate the nature of exploration and what it means to explore today.
