You might think that on the day the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Right Honourable George Osborne, reveals his budget plans for the year ahead he would have enough on his plate. But he has found time to launch a new pound coin. Not worth as much as it was when the first one-ound coin appeared, way back when, but very pretty all the same!
As usual, the front ('obverse' or 'heads' ) side will carry a profile portrait of HM The Queen. The reverse of the coin – the 'tails' side, illustrated above – is based on a design submitted by 15-year-old David Pearce from Walsall. So well done to David Pearce!
