‘The Long March of Pop’
with Thomas Crow and Richard Cork
Wednesday 4 February 2015
To coincide with the current exhibition, ‘Post Pop: East Meets West’ at the Saatchi Gallery, Thomas Crow, author of the new book The Long March of Pop (which will be reviewed in next month’s Cassone) will be ‘in conversation’ with Richard Cork, award-winning art critic, historian, broadcaster and curator.
Thomas Crow’s book challenges existing narratives about the rise of Pop art by situating it within larger cultural tides that cover art, music and design. Crow will present an illustrated introduction to his book followed by a discussion with Richard Cork on the rise and continued legacy of Pop art.
Thomas Crowis the Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Formerly Director of the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, his books include The Rise of the Sixties: American and European Art in the Era of Dissent
