Fashion through the lens - three major exhibitions closing soon

Fashion photography has been  having a 'moment' with four major retrospectives in London galleries. 

Spanning almost 100 years the exhibitions reveal the many different interpretations of this art form through each photographer's very different and unique eye, from the glamour and glitz of legendary photographer Horst at the V&A (reviewed in November's Cassone), Guy Bourdin at Somerset House, and Vogue's Edward Steichen at the Photographer's Gallery, to the alternative 'grittiness' of 21st-century snapper, Vivianne Sassen, whose award-winning campaigns include those for Stella McCartney, Adidas, Miu Miu, and Missoni.

With some of fashion's earliest images exhibited for the first time they also reveal how fashion photography has developed over the decades, how each generation of photographers are influenced by their predecessors, whilst always striving to visualize something new.
