Birmingham art fans are being invited to participate in ‘Galleries Night’ and jump aboard a free and festive ‘Art Bus’ to enjoy a free tour of some of the City’s top art attractions.
Starting its journey at 5pm on Wednesday 3 December, the Christmas coach will take passengers on an evening tour, visiting exhibitions at six of Birmingham’s art galleries, including Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the Ikon Gallery and the Parkside Gallery at Birmingham City University.
With a mixture of contemporary and historical art and design from British and international artists, each gallery has something different to offer. There will be staff on hand at each venue to welcome visitors as they arrive to enjoy the great art on display.
The Art Bus timetable is available from all participating gallery websites, so passengers can hop on and off throughout the evening.
John Hall, Exhibitions Manager at The Parkside Gallery in Birmingham City University, said:
Birmingham City University is delighted to take part in such a fun, and free event! We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Hille + Day exhibition, a celebration of the work of Robin Day and Hille furniture, who in 1963 launched one of the most significant chairs of the 20th century. The Polyprop side chair has seen more than 14 million sales worldwide and has become a well-known fixture in schools and offices across the world.
