Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago extends hours of Bowie show

‘David Bowie Is’ now open until 10 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays  

Owing to increasing demand for tickets, the MCA has added extended holiday hours to the ‘David Bowie Is’exhibition, starting this week.

Mondays            Closed
Tuesdays            10 a.m. –8 p.m.
Wednesdays      10 a.m. –5 p.m.
Thursdays          10 a.m. –8 p.m.
Fridays             10 a.m.–10 p.m.
Saturdays          9 a.m.–10 p.m.
Sundays                 9 a.m. –6 p.m.
9 a.m. –10 p.m. on December 28 and January 4

‘David Bowie Is’ looks at the art and design aspects of the singer, songwriter and performer’s career, charting his influence on graphic, fashion and stage set design. The exhibition originated at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, where it was the most successful show, in terms of tickets sold, ever held. Reviews of the exhibition  and its catalogue appeared in Cassone, April and June 2013, respectively.

Tickets are $25, which includes admission to see the rest of the museum. Because the exhibition is ticketed by time, visitors need to select a date and time for a ticket to be issued. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mcachicago.org/bowie or by calling the MCA Bowie Hotline at 312.397.4068 during museum hours. Tickets are sold in half-hour slots ending two hours before the museum closes for the day. ‘David Bowie Is’ was organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and is on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago until 4 January 2015.
