Bridget Riley at the Art Institute of Chicago
11 November 2014 – 8 March 2015
The exhibition features the Art Institute's own Ascending and Descending Hero (1963/65), an important early black-and-white painting, alongside Continuum (1962/2005), Riley's only sculptural work. Highlighting the artist's development, the display also includes two of her 'stripe' paintings: the early black-and-white Horizontal Vibration (1961) and the recent colour diptych Red Modulation (Yellow and Orange) (2014–13).
