Art and Life 1920–1931: Ben Nicholson, Winifred Nicholson, Christopher Wood, Alfred Wallis, William Staite Murray
This exhibition, previously shown at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, is moving to London's Dulwich Picture Gallery. A variety of events have been planned to accompany the show - see below. Painting Art and Life: Composition and Colour Six Saturdays from 7 June to 5 July 10a.m.–1p.m. £90, £85 Friends & Concessions Focus on the Art and Life exhibition to create personal paintings. Experiment with colour and composition to manipulate space like St. Ives artists past and present. With artist Rebecca Allen.
Introduction to Painting Five Tuesdays from 3 June to 1 July 5.30–7.30p.m. £75, £70 Friends & Concessions Explore the basics of watercolour, gouache, acrylic and pen and ink. Improve skills such as layering paint and colour wash. With artist Peter Astwood Offsite location: St Barnabas Parish Hall.
Watercolour: Spring into Summer Eight Mondays from 12 May to 14 June (excluding 26 May and 30 June) 10am-12.30p.m. or 1.30p.m.–4p.m. £145,£135Friends & Concessions Be inspired by the glorious changes in colour and light between spring and summer and develop your observational and watercolour skills. Work outside in the Gallery grounds when the weather permits and from seasonal botanicals in the studio. With Royal Watercolour Society Member Liz Butler.
Mixed Media Art and Life: Discover Still Life Five Mondays from 3 June to 1 July 10a.m.–12p.m. £55, £50 Friends & Concessions Using painting and drawing, explore still life with a focus on colour, shape and natural form. With artist Jo Lewis.
