The 7" single is a living art form at Mother

The Mother charity project has organized  Secret 7" - Art by The Chapman Bros, Sir Antony Gormley and Sir Paul Smith

Artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, Sir Antony Gormley and Sir Paul Smith have created artworks for this year’s Secret 7”event, the Downstairs at Mother charity project that offers hundreds of designers the opportunity to create vinyl artwork, this year in aid of War Child.

All of the 700 one-of-a-kind vinyl covers will be exhibited and sold at Mother in East London next month.

For one weekend – April 12 and 13 – the public will be able to view the collection in its entirety. The following Saturday, 19 April, Record Store Day, visitors will be able to take a part of the exhibition away with them when the vinyl sleeves go on sale for £45 each. None of the buyers will know who created the sleeve, or even which song it’s for, until they have parted with their cash…the secret lies within.

The well-known artists line up with hundreds of creatives from all over the world to contribute artwork inspired by the following tracks:

Black Sabbath / Age Of Reason
Elbow / Grounds For Divorce
Jake Bugg / Strange Creatures
Lorde / Team
Massive Attack / Karmacoma
Roxy Music / Virginia Plain
T-Rex / Get It On

Other names involved include Gavin Turk, Jeremy Deller and D*Face and Dan Tobin Smith.
