The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is still under the threat of having its collections sold off to pay the debts of the City of Detroit. There is pressure to do this from some of the city's creditors. It would seem incredibly short sighted of the City's local government to do this – and it would set a very alarming precedent for other collections. The citizens of Detroit, who plainly love and appreciate DIA, should certainly oppose any move to give in to these demands.
