'Enoc Perez: Paris mon amour'
Until 27 July 2013
The Galerie Nathalie Obadia is currently presenting recent works by Enoc Perez in the gallery’s new premises, rue du Bourg-Tibourg.
It is the third show by the artist with Galerie Nathalie Obadia, which has represented him since 2007. His first exhibition was held then, after his participation in ‘Cher Peintre ... Peintures Figuratives depuis l’ultime Picabia’at the Centre Pompidou in 2002. An exhibition of works on paper was also held at the gallery in Brussels in 2011.
Enoc Perez is now back with this new, eagerly awaited exhibition; this will be the first time his sculptures have been shown in Paris. With these sculptural works, Enoc Perez continues to explore the themes of modernist architecture, nostalgia and the culture of his native Puerto Rico, which has always been a source of inspiration in his pictorial work. The sculptures revisit the atmosphere of hotels in the Caribbean, a topic also present in the paintings since the year 2000.
The Galerie Nathalie Obadia will be presenting recent paintings by Enoc Perez: more abstract architectures which use a very subtle and more austere palette of colours to define constructions that are still modern, but already shaping up to become the relics of an America and its history.
