The Photographers’ Gallery

Since The Photographers’ Gallery re-opened in May 2012, a high-quality series of photography exhibitions has grabbed public attention. The latest SHOOT! EXISTENTIAL PHOTOGRAPHY (until 6 January 2013), moves their aim higher with the installation of a photo-shooting gallery, to focus on the curious global phenomenon, post World War I, of taking and keeping a picture of yourself using a gun. The installation is part of a creative showcase, which explores how it worked and why it was popular; and to study the analogy between taking photographs and the act of shooting.
Cassone will be publishing Rosalind Ormiston's full review of this show shortly.
