Distinctive jewellery helps support children through adversity
Inspired by the charity Young Pioneers which has helped over 6,000 vulnerable children in the past four years, Wild Ivy Jewellery has created a beautiful collection of Italian Murano glass jewellery – with the sale of each piece helping to support a young person to overcome adversity. Glassmaking has been practised on the island of Murano, Venice, for centuries.
Four years ago, after being hospitalized after an attack from school bullies, 12-year-old Luke Lancaster decided to make is cool to care and created a whole new charity and youth movement – Young Pioneers (charity number 1121680).
Today at 17, Luke is CEO of the charity that has helped over 6,000 children. Young Pioneers enables young people with the skills they need to overcome adversity, be successful and lead change. The charity provides educational programmes and support services that motivate vulnerable young people to progress in life and these programmes are carried out by children and young adults – the charity has already trained over 5,000.
The Have a Heart necklace and earrings are available in pink or blue glass and prices start from £14.95.
The Young Pioneers Bead Collection is a bespoke bead collection available to wear on either a silver or leather bracelet. Each of the beads is handmade with a sterling silver core with prices starting from £16.95. Some of the beads are dedicated to young people who have inspired Young Pioneers, some to a core programme and if all seven are collected, together they represent the values and vision of Young Pioneers – Leading Change, Overcoming Adversity, Being Successful, Global Change, Community Action, Training Others, Be Healthy.
