Preston, Lancashire marks the end of London 2012

Head to Preston’s beautiful Avenham & Miller Park at the weekend of 7–9 September for a fun-filled range of events guaranteed to excite and enchant. Over the final weekend of the Paralympic Games, Avenham & Miller Park will host WE PLAY Expo, the region’s closing celebration for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
 
Visitors can experience a diverse range of free world-class events that will reflect the artistic and athletic spirit of the Games, including immersive performances, film premieres, street theatre and urban music shows and stunts.  
 
WE PLAY Expo takes place as part of Preston Guild – a once-every-20-years historic event – which this time falls on the final weekend of the 10-day Preston Guild City Festival, bringing together two historic events in one location.
 
Highlights over the EXPO weekend include; Sacrilege, a playful interpretation of Stonehenge by Jeremy Deller, bound to capture the hearts, minds and inner-child of all who take part,  Blaze Festival, an explosive mix of urban art, music and performance and Humble Market, an immersive digital performance exploring what happens when Brazil and UK meet.  
 
Be sure not to miss Sunday night’s dazzling displays from French pyrotechnic wizards Les Commandos Percu, which will set the sky ablaze and fill the air with rhythmic beats.  And in true festival style, indulge in the local food stalls and pop up bars!
