Established Thurrock art photographer Antonisia Schroder is preparing to unveil two major new exhibitions as part of the first ever Thurrock Art Trail tomorrow (2 July).
The ‘art trail’ is running as part of the Essex Summer of Art, which this year plays a key role in the Olympic Legacy project for Essex as the Games kick off in London.
Antonisia, who was born in Brazil but has lived in Thurrock for many years, has been working hard over the past nine months with three other prominent local artists to make next month’s ‘art trail’ a reality.
The centre of the trail is the Thameside Complex in Grays, where Antonisia will be exhibiting ‘I See You Everywhere’, a highly personal and emotional project which includes images along the theme of what she loves the most in life.
Meanwhile, at the Stables complex at High House Production Park in Purfleet, she will be exhibiting ‘The Art of Feeling’; a photographic and psychological journey exploring the feelings that can be engendered within us through the appreciation of art. This is accompanied by a published book of the same title.
The exhibitions in Thurrock are Antonisia’s second major show in 2012, following her successful south London exhibition ‘Feed or Greed’, a photographic exploration of the inequalities still present in our 21st-century world and about the wastage of food in developed countries.
Antonisia said:
The Thurrock Art Trail presents an opportunity for families, residents and visitors to Thurrock to discover what great exhibitions are available on their doorstep. The interest we have already had in the first ever ‘art trail’ has blown us away.
My two exhibitions showcase two very different sides to my work and I hope to be present for much of the fortnight to talk to visitors about my work and explain some of my inspirations.
The Thameside exhibition runs from Monday 2 to Sunday 15 July, while the show at High House starts on Tuesday 3 July and also runs to 15 July. Call John on 07843 048040 for more information about the art trail or the opportunity to speak to Antonisia about her work.
Other works by Antonisia will be on display at other venues within Thurrock over the fortnight.
