Bristol dealers take part in Art Melbourne

At Art Melbourne (24–27 May) innovative modern art curators Coates and Scarry will be offering affordable art from artists they represent.

The works incorporate pagan imagery, street art, folk art, human and animal mixed manifestations, challenging sculptures and the shocking juxtaposed with the sublime. Coates and Scarry believe that all come together to represent what is ultimately beautiful and spiritual art.

Coates and Scarry represent a number of artists including  Italian artist Marco Mazzoni, whose exquisitely detailed and macabrely romantic pencil drawings belie the delicacy and simplicity of the medium, and Angela Lizon, a Bristol artist renowned worldwide for abandoning her fine art background and undeniable talent to embrace painting extraordinarily kitsch cats and babies.

In the past Coates and Richard Scarry have collaborated with the Bristol City Museum on Art on the New World summer show in 2010 and the Modern Fabulists group show, highlight of the art calendar for Bristol in 2011 plus other international shows. They also have an established an international fan base following the diverse series of interviews they conduct with artists on the ‘Coates and Scarry’ blog.
