The Whitney Museum, New York and Michael Clark Company are seeking unpaid volunteers without formal dance training to work on a piece of ‘mass choreographic action’ and perform as part of Michael Clark’s latest work for the 2012 Biennial. This project follows Clark’s hugely successful project at Tate Modern in London, which also involved a large group of untrained volunteers.

Volunteer requirements

Age 18 or older
No previous formal dance training
Physically able to participate in movement/dance for two to three hours a day

You must be available for all performance and rehearsal times, with flexibility to attend rehearsals on other days/times as needed. Please visit the Whitney’s website for a complete schedule. Participation involves a very extensive time commitment, so please do not apply if you cannot commit to all the dates referenced on the website.

To apply, please send a CV, phone number, and a short text about yourself (up to 300 words) to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 1 March. Unfortunately, owing to the volume of applications, the museum will be unable to contact applicants who have not been selected.
