Lambeth has its own art gallery…that’s Lambeth, London, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada. With a population of under 400,000, London, Ontario may be growing fast but still has a long way to go to catch up with its English namesake (population somewhere between 12 million and 14 million). The city has its own Thames River (not navigable) and, as the gallery name reveals, its own Lambeth. You could say London, Ontario is a miniature London, England so it seems fitting that the Lambeth Art Gallery there is shortly to have a show of miniature art, in fact the 2nd Annual March Miniature Show and Sale – 28 Feb–7 Apr 2012; opening reception Sun 4 Mar, 1 p.m – 4 p.m.
Submissions are still being accepted – artists have until 24 February to get them into the Lambeth Art Gallery. All media are accepted but the gallery stipulates that size cannot exceed 4” x 4” for flat artworks or 4” x 4” x 4” for three-dimensional pieces. There will be a top prize of $100 and three works will get honourable mentions.
Check the Lambeth Gallery website for more information and submission forms – there is a $10 entrance fee.
