Britain’s Civic Trust shortlists award finalists

— January 2012

Architect's illustration of the new Maggie's Centre, south west Wales

In 1959 the Civic Trust established its own architectural and built environment awards scheme to recognize the very best in architecture, urban design, planning, landscape, public realm and public art. Over 50 buildings have been shortlisted for the 2012 prize, not all of them in the UK: a concert hall in Iceland, a factory in Moscow and a hospice in Denmark are among the nominees. All schemes featuring on the shortlist of winners will receive an Award, Commendation or Community Recognition at the 2012 Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Friday 2 March at The Hub in Edinburgh, supported by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Cassone is pleased to see that a number of buildings featured in our articles, reviews and news are recognized by the scheme. So we wish particular luck to:

Maggie's Centre, Cheltenham by MJP Architects

The Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield, Yorkshire by David Chipperfield Architects

Turner Contemporary, Margate, Kent by David Chipperfield Architects

Watts Gallery, Guildford by ZMMA
