Banquet by Dr. Raimi Gbadamosi (Bracknell Gallery) is a meeting point for people with complicated social relationships. Even though festive banquets are often celebratory feasts, they may highlight social exclusion and the uneasiness of social gatherings: Raimi offers much food for thought. Continuing with the theme, Ellie Rees’s 24 hour film, The Day of Twenty Four Cakes, is presented outside the gallery. The season also presents work by two Artists in Residence. Holly Drewett’s Invisible Cities (Mirror Gallery) invites the spectator on a journey through landscape, architecture and rich cultures such as India and Nepal. Machi de Waard’s: Fundamental: Modernist Forms (Tall Hall) showcases Machi’s new jewellery collection, inspired by abstract expressionism and minimalism. In Atrium, Anna Roch Deus’s abstract light atmospheres move between balance and imbalance, playfully inviting movement on the canvas. The Community Gallery presents the Bracknell Camera Club, exploring the concept of transformation: a process of alteration, conversion or metamorphosis, promising some interesting photographs.
