Roland Penrose was an artist, writer and friend of all the major European artists of his day, including Picasso and Mirò. His wife, photographer Lee Miller worked with Man Ray developing the photographic technique of solarization, and was a noted war correspondent and photographer. Their home was a magnet for European artists visiting Britain, and now it is open to the public.
Farley Farm House, the former Sussex home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of the month from April to the end of October, and extra days during the Brighton and Uckfield Festivals. The garden contains sculpture from the permanent collection and also from visiting artists, and Farleys Barn Gallery has a full programme of art, sculpture and photography. www.farleyfarmhouse.co.uk
